Importer UI

Animation Clips

Use the Animation Clips panel to review imported clips, create new Time Editor clips, and see which source the exporter will use.

The panel is dockable and can also be used as a floating window. Open it from glTF2.0 > Animation Clips.

Integration with Maya's Time Editor

The plug-in uses Maya's Time Editor to organize imported animation clips. When you import a glTF or GLB file with animation clips, the importer automatically creates the corresponding Time Editor clips where:

  • Each composition appears as a main grouping in the Time Editor
  • Each animation clip within a composition is created in its own track
  • The clips in the corresponding tracks are clearly labeled with their respective animation names
  • You can navigate between compositions using the dropdown composition selector

Shortcuts in the panel open the Graph Editor and Time Editor (disabled while that editor is already open).

Using the Animation Clips Panel

  1. Select a Composition - choose from the dropdown (synced from the Time Editor, including Maya's default Composition1 after New Scene). Use + to create a new composition.
  2. Review Imported Clips - see clips for that composition in the Clips List
  3. Play / Edit Clips - play, rename, or delete clips from the list
  4. Define Clips to Create - add Name / Start / End rows (Start and End accept numbers only and default to 0.0; End must be greater than Start) and click Create Clips
  5. Export Source - check Use Direct Clip Definitions for Export when you want the Name / Start / End table used first. Time Editor clips whose names are not in that table are still exported. Pane colors and the Export Source line update automatically
  6. Bake to Scene - consolidate Time Editor clips onto scene keyframes when needed

For the full Export Source highlight matrix, direct-export preference, Define Clips validation, and authoring workflows, see Exporter Animation Clips.

Features

  • Dockable or floating panel with a stable minimum size
  • Live composition sync with the Time Editor (including Create Composition)
  • Automatic Time Editor clip creation on import
  • Clip playback, rename, and delete
  • Batch define / create clips from a Name / Start / End table (numeric Start / End, 0.0 defaults, clear validation messages)
  • Export Source highlight (green / amber / blue fallback)
  • Time Editor Clips export includes every composition in the scene, not only the one selected in the panel
  • A later import keeps earlier clips. The time slider covers every Time Editor clip, and the new file takes unused clip IDs
  • Bake to Scene for flattening Time Editor structure
  • Graph Editor and Time Editor shortcuts

Exporting for web and real-time viewers

After you have Time Editor clips, export with Animation Mode = Time Editor Clips and Bake Animation Keyframes On. See Animation Settings.
