Importer
Bring splat captures into Maya
Open PLY, SOG, SPLAT, KSPLAT, NPZ, or SPZ files as a placeable object you can frame, lookdev, render, and export.
Why import here?¶
Renderers can often load a splat for beauty alone. Importing through this plugin gives you a Maya object you can place, lookdev, embed in the scene, re-export to other formats, sync to Arnold / V-Ray, and (with the glTF plugin) carry in glTF/GLB. See Why this plugin? on the home page.
Highlights¶
- File → Import → Gaussian Splats Import
- Formats: PLY (including compressed), SOG, SPLAT, KSPLAT, NPZ, SPZ
- Imports keep file coordinates as-is (scale and rotate in Maya if needed)
- Viewport preview with density, color, opacity, and up-axis controls
- Embed In Scene so Maya scenes can reopen without the original capture file
- Clear selection frame (wire box + corners) instead of a green point cloud
- Re-export to another format or glTF without leaving Maya
